THÉÂTRE JEUNE PUBLIC SERIES

Mika is sad and distracted. He decides to put his grief to good use by setting out to find a legendary volcano whose roaring fire can be extinguished only by all the tears in the world. Along the way he encounters friendship, uncertainty and strife, but he never loses faith in his mission. This is Pascal Chevarie’s first play for young audiences, created to celebrate Théâtre Bouches Décousues’ 20th anniversary season.

Théâtre Bouches Décousues

Théâtre Bouches Décousues contributes to the development of a dramaturgy for children, reaching out to a wider audience. They are well known for saying loud and clear that children are not only tomorrow's audience, they are a worthwhile audience today. Much can be said about relations between children and adults and this important question is the heart of their work. Fundamentally, they believe that everything can be said to children. All of their creations are the result of a long process. They pursue their goals through four principal activities: Artistic research - Creation - Diffusion - Workshops.

Pascal Chevarie

Pascal Chevarie graduated from the playwriting program of the National Theatre School of Canada in 2003. He also has a B.A. in Literature and Theatre Studies from Laval University. He was the prizewinner for his text, Iana et le Mur in the 4th competition for Le théâtre jeune public et la relève organized jointly by CEAD, la Maison Théâtre and l'Option-Théâtre du Collège Lionel-Groulx. Mika, l'enfant pleureur created in French by the Théâtre Bouches Décousues was on the program, along with others, of the 15th Festival Mondial des Arts pour la Jeunesse (ASSITEJ) in September 2005, in Montreal.
