Robin Poitras / Gearshifting Performance Works

Arts Court Theatre

A collaboration by Regina-based choreographer/dancer Robin Poitras with visual artist Edward Poitras and her company Rouge-gorge, IN FUR TILL SPRING brings live dance, music and art objects into a social arena that traverses through the 17th to the 21st century. A dance work in a shifting landscape, In fur till spring is both a lament and a celebration of love, of fertility, and of the wondrous natural world. Performed with four dancers, live harpsichord by Valerie Hall, guitar by Rob Doherty, and the sounds of Saskatchewan songbirds gifted by Charlie Fox, In fur till spring also features props by visual artist John Noestheden.

Based on sketches created by Wanda Koop in the early 1990s, HYBRID HUMAN presents an investigation of artificial intelligence, robotics, and the human body’s integration and understanding of our technologically mediated world. Increasingly, contemporary life is filtered through a screen – be it a computer, cell phone, television or movie theatre – through which we experience day-to-day life and living. Hybrid Human offers a profoundly philosophical mode by which to consider the contemporary world. A collaborative work between visual artist Wanda Koop, choreographer Jolene Bailie, lighting and media designer Hugh Conacher and sound artist Susan Chafe. Costumes by Anne Armit. Dancers: Claire Marshall, Tiffany Thomas, Branwyn Bundon, Christie Peters, Krista Nicholson.
