Prairie Fiddle Showcase

Library and Archives Canada - Auditorium

Karrnnel Sawitsky, one of the most dynamic and original fiddle players in Canada, brings his contagious passion to the stage in a showcase that pays tribute to the long tradition of fiddle music on the Prairies. He is joined by a veritable who’s who of Canadian fiddling: Métis master fiddler John Arcand is recognized for his lifelong efforts to preserve traditional Métis music. Donny Parenteau is a hugely talented artist who has played with some of today’s best-known country music stars, including Tim McGraw and Shania Twain.

Matthew Contois and Ryan D’Aoust, barely out of high school, hone their award-winning fiddling skills as sought-after performers focusing on Métis and Aboriginal styles. These five remarkable and engaging musicians will perform together, and in solos for an unforgettable evening of fiddle fun.
